Lecture: Barbara Ransby, "Social Justice and Freedom-making in the 21st Century"

The full title of Barbara Ransby's lecture is "Social Justice and Freedom-making in the 21st Century: Lessons from Martin Luther King Jr., Ella Baker and The Black Lives Matter Movement." Ransby is Distinguished Professor in the departments of African American Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, and History at University of Illinois at Chicago. There she directs Social Justice Initiative, a project that promotes connections between academics and community organizers. Her most recent book was published this summer: Making All Black Lives Matter: Re-imagining Freedom in the 21st Century." Sponsored by the Dean of Faculty.
