Black August is a time of study, reflection, solidarity with ongoing liberation movements throughout the Black African diaspora, and of re commitment to the freedom of all Black political prisoners worldwide. The month of August is rich with histories of Black resistance, and we invite you to spend time with some of the resources and reflections the Center for Constitutional Rights has shared in years past.
This year, we want to highlight advocacy in support of the multidecade movement to free incarcerated Black activist, journalist, and intellectual Mumia Abu-Jamal, and invite you to a screening of
Sambizanga (1972) that we are co-hosting with the Highlander Center in Durham, North Carolina.
