On February 23, just 4 days before February 27, the Eighth Anniversary of Trayvon Martin's killing that ignited a movement. Black Lives Matter, a 25-year-old black man named Ahmaud Arbery was murdered by two white supremacists. Ahmaud was jogging in a neighborhood outside of Brunswick, Georgia when he was chased down and killed in cold blood with a shotgun.
Ahmaud’s horrific murder was captured on a video released yesterday and there’s no question it was carried out by racist vigilantes who must be prosecuted.
We’re heartbroken for Ahmaud’s family and community. We’re angry that his killers still roam free more than 10 weeks after the incident. And we’ve had enough of the inaction on gun violence that leaves black and brown Americans looking over their shoulder every day.
